General Atomics Shows New Laser Weapon on MQ-9B Drone

General Atomics has introduced a new airborne laser weapon mounted on its MQ-9B SeaGuardian drone. The system, a 25-kilowatt-class high-energy laser (HEL), was revealed at the Sea-Air-Space 2025 expo. Russia Tests New Drone IFF System for Military and Civilian Use

Russia has started testing a new system to help drones identify friendly units during flight. The Identification-Friend-or-Foe (IFF) technology was announced on Tuesday by Rosel, a company under the state-owned defense firm Rostec. According to Rosel’s news release, the system uses a radar-based transponder mounted on the drone and weighs less than 90 grams. It can identify friendly drones within 100 kilometers and up to five kilometers in altitude. (Read More)


NOAA Needs Help Identifying Car Found In WWII Shipwreck | Popular Science

During a deep-sea survey on April 19, NOAA researchers discovered a vintage car inside the sunken World War II aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, located nearly three miles underwater in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. The unexpected find—believed to be either Rear Admiral Frank Fletcher’s flag car or a vehicle brought aboard for repairs—was spotted near one of the ship’s elevators, prompting NOAA to ask the public for help identifying it.
