Hamas Fighters Raid IDF Encampment in Southern Gaza, Three Soldiers Wounded

At least 18 Hamas operatives launched a coordinated assault on an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) encampment in southern Gaza on Wednesday morning, injuring three soldiers, according to the IDF. The attack began around 9 a.m., when operatives emerged from a tunnel in Khan Younis and advanced toward the outpost, while firing machine guns and anti-tank weapons, according to the IDF. German Jets Scrambled From Romania After Russian Strikes Near NATO Border

Two German Eurofighter Typhoons were scrambled overnight from Romania after Russia launched drones and missiles against Ukraine near the NATO frontier, Romania’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday. The aircraft, stationed at Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base under NATO’s Enhanced Air Policing mission, were deployed to monitor the border region but reported no violations of Romanian airspace​. US Navy Vessel Catches Fire While Anchored in Okinawa

A U.S. Navy warship erupted in flames Wednesday while anchored off Okinawa, burning for 12 hours before the blaze was extinguished early Thursday, local media reported. The fire broke out around 4 p.m. aboard the amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD-18) near White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa. The U.S. 7th Fleet reported that two sailors suffered minor injuries and were treated aboard the ship. (Read More)


NASA’s X-59 Supersonic Jet Nears First Flight After Final Ground Tests

NASA’s X-59 experimental jet is preparing for its first flight, with final taxi tests underway at Lockheed Martin’s Palmdale facility, the agency said in a news release. NASA said engineers are now conducting medium- and high-speed taxi tests for the aircraft. (Read More)​​

China has completed the merger of its two state-owned shipbuilders, creating by far the world’s largest maritime manufacturer in the world. According to The Wall Street Journal, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has absorbed China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) in a $16 billion deal, finalizing a process launched in 2019. Gabbard Unveils Plan to Cut ODNI Workforce by 40%

National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard said Wednesday she will cut about 40% of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s (ODNI) workforce and close several offices as part of a restructuring plan called “ODNI 2.0.” In a news release, Gabbard said the initiative will reduce ODNI’s staff from about 1,850 to 1,300 by September 23.
