Most New U.S. AI Data Centers Slated for Drought-Stricken Land

Roughly two-thirds, or 517 of 809 planned artificial intelligence (AI) data centers across the United States, are set to be built in areas that have experienced drought conditions over the past year, according to The Guardian’s analysis of federal drought data.

The rapid expansion of AI infrastructure has drawn growing scrutiny due to its heavy water use for cooling. Researchers warn that U.S. data centers could consume up to 73 billion gallons of water annually by 2028, up sharply from about 17 billion gallons in 2023. (Read More)

CENTCOM Strikes Iran a Second Night as Trump Warns Tehran Will ‘Pay the Price’

The U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces carried out additional “self-defense” strikes on multiple targets in Iran at President Donald Trump’s direction, describing them as a response to Iran’s “unwarranted and continued aggression.”

CENTCOM did not immediately disclose the specific targets or provide details on damage assessments or possible casualties. The strikes came after Trump warned that Iran would “pay the price” for taking too long to reach a deal. (Read More)

Garner, a former 1st Ranger Battalion soldier and biophysics researcher, contended that U.S. institutions reward the credentialed perfectionist over the adaptable operator. He urged SOF to select and train for the wide "hundred-tool box" instead. (Read More)
