Former National Guardsman With ISIS Conviction Kills One in ODU Campus Attack

Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, a former Army National Guard member and convicted ISIS supporter, opened fire inside an ROTC class at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. One person was killed and two others wounded before ROTC students subdued and killed the suspect.

Jalloh pleaded guilty in 2016 to providing material support to ISIS and was released from federal prison in 2024. The FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism. (Read More)

U.S. KC-135 Stratotanker Crashes in Iraq During Operation Epic Fury

A U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker went down in western Iraq during Operation Epic Fury, with CENTCOM confirming the loss was "not due to hostile fire or friendly fire." Two aircraft were involved in the incident, and the second landed safely in Israel.

Crew status remained unknown at time of reporting. The KC-135 is the backbone of U.S. aerial refueling operations and multiple airframes are currently deployed across the CENTCOM area of operations in support of ongoing combat operations against Iran. (Read More)

Israeli Drones Strike Basij Militia Checkpoints Across Iran

The Israeli Air Force struck multiple Basij militia checkpoints across Tehran using drones, killing at least 10 security personnel. These attacks are the first reported drone strikes in the Iranian capital since the Middle East conflict began on February 28.

The Israel Defense Forces said the targeted forces are part of Iran’s security apparatus and have long been involved in terror-related activities. The IDF described the operation as part of an ongoing campaign to intensify strikes on Iran’s nuclear-related sites and critical military infrastructure. (Read More)

A Special Forces Communications Sergeant Spent His Career Looking for This Solution

Ryan Garay served as a Communications Sergeant (18E) in U.S. Army Special Forces before working with L3Harris, Persistent Systems, and IBM in support of SOCOM and JSOC. Across every role, one problem remained unsolved: keeping unmanned systems reliably connected beyond line of sight in contested environments.

Elsight's Halo is the answer he couldn't find anywhere else.

Rather than replacing radios, Halo bonds all available transport pathways, LTE/5G, P2P/MANET, and SATCOM, into a single resilient connection. An onboard logic layer continuously monitors path health and steers traffic automatically, maintaining C2, telemetry, and video even as individual links are jammed or degraded.

The result: more than 500,000 operational hours in real-world contested environments, a recent Defense Innovation Unit award under Project GI, and special forces currently in final-stage training.
