Russian Troops in ‘Penguin’ Camouflage Killed by Ukrainian Drone Strike

Ukrainian forces have eliminated at least two Russian soldiers wearing experimental “penguin” camouflage designed to evade drone detection, according to the 120th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces.

Footage released by the brigade shows a Russian soldier clad in a white cloak with black patches being tracked by footprints in the snow before being struck by a Ukrainian drone. According to Ukrainian troops, the camouflage was intended to conceal movement in winter conditions but instead made the wearers more visible against the open landscape. (Read More)


Pentagon Forms ‘Non-Kinetic Effects Cell’ to Strengthen Cyber Operations

The Pentagon has created a new “non-kinetic effects cell” to better synchronize cyber and electronic warfare capabilities across global operations, defense officials told lawmakers on Wednesday. The initiative aligns with Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine’s push to weave cyber tools into military missions.

The cell was established ahead of Operation Absolute Resolve in Venezuela, where U.S. cyber forces reportedly disrupted power and communications to support a precision raid targeting Nicolas Maduro’s regime. (Read More)


Russia Suffers Historic Casualties in Ukraine War Unseen Since WWII

Russia has incurred an estimated 1.2 million casualties between February 2022 and December 2025, losses unseen for a major military power since World War II, according to a report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The figure includes up to 325,000 Russian troops killed.

Meanwhile, close to 600,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed, wounded, or gone missing during the same period. Combined casualties from both sides could reach 2 million by spring 2026, the report warns. (Read More)

On this day in history: On January 30, 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi while walking to a prayer meeting. Hindu nationalist Nathuram Godse shot him three times at close range. Gandhi's death exposed the religious tensions that followed India's 1947 partition. Godse was later tried and executed.
