Carrier Strike Group Enters CENTCOM Area as Trump Offers Iran Negotiations

The USS Abraham Lincoln and its escort ships have entered the United States Central Command area of responsibility amid rising tensions with Tehran. President Donald Trump told Axios that the Iran situation is “in flux” after he ordered the deployment of a “big armada” to the region.

A senior U.S. official, speaking to reporters hours after Trump’s remarks, said the White House is "open for business" regarding negotiations with Iran. (Read More)


Israel Recovers Remains of Final Gaza Hostage, Clearing Path for Ceasefire Phase Two

Israel announced Monday that the remains of the last hostage in Gaza have been recovered. The operation involved a "large-scale" search in a northern Gaza cemetery to locate Ran Gvili, a special forces officer killed during the Hamas attack in October 2023.

The recovery clears the way for further progress in Gaza’s ceasefire deal, which Israel had delayed until Gvili was found. On Monday, following the return of all hostages, Israel authorized a limited reopening of the Rafah Crossing. (Read More)


Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Capture Russian Soldiers in Urban Operation

Ukraine's 8th Special Operations Forces (SSO) Regiment killed two Russian soldiers and captured two others during operations in central Kupiansk, helping neighboring units liberate the contested city center.

The action followed SSO reconnaissance that identified Russian forces occupying a destroyed supermarket and a nearby residential building. Ukrainian troops have cleared most of Kupiansk of Russian forces, though fewer than 100 soldiers are still believed to be hiding in damaged buildings. (Read More)

Gunmen fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the vehicle of Akmad Ampatuan, a mayor in the southern Philippines, on Sunday morning, but he escaped unharmed. During a subsequent pursuit operation, police killed three suspects and recovered a B40 RPG launcher. (Read More)

Google has agreed to pay $68 million to settle a class-action lawsuit accusing its voice-activated assistant of recording private conversations without user consent. Apple faced similar allegations over Siri recordings and settled for $95 million in January 2025. (Read More)

French President Emmanuel Macron called for accelerated legislation to ban social media for children under 15, aiming for the law to take effect at the start of the school year in September. He warned that children’s brains and emotions are not for sale to American platforms or Chinese algorithms. (Read More)

Ukraine's 47th Mechanized Brigade "Magura" destroyed a Shahed-107 kamikaze drone using the domestically developed STING interceptor drone. The Ministry of Defense earlier announced plans to deliver up to 40,000 interceptor drones to Ukrainian forces by the end of January 2026. (Read More)

NATO is planning to develop an automated defense zone along its borders with Russia and Belarus to counter invading forces in the early stages of a conflict. A NATO official said the AI-powered system would use sensors to detect threats and activate defenses, including drones, robots, and anti-missile systems. (Read More)

Japan’s Board of Audit reported that about $7 billion (1.1 trillion yen) in U.S.-procured military equipment remains undelivered more than five years after contracts were signed, forcing the Self-Defense Forces to rely on older systems. The board said 118 purchases since fiscal 2018 are still incomplete, mostly due to U.S. manufacturer delays. (Read More)

➤ A female tourist in Fuyun County, China, was attacked by a snow leopard after she got too close to the rare animal to take a photo. A ski instructor intervened and drove the leopard away, and the animal ran off unharmed. The tourist was injured but is in stable condition.
