Trump Declares Naval Blockade of Strait of Hormuz After Ceasefire Collapse

President Donald Trump on Sunday said the U.S. would block vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports from transiting the Strait of Hormuz after high-level talks between the U.S. and Iran ended without an agreement.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation will begin Monday at 10 a.m. U.S. forces will not impede ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to or from non-Iranian ports. (Read More)


U.S. Intelligence Indicates China Preparing MANPADS Shipment to Iran

U.S. intelligence assessed that China is preparing to deliver shoulder-fired anti-air missile systems to Iran within weeks, routing shipments through third countries to mask their origin, according to three people familiar with the assessment cited by CNN.

A Chinese embassy spokesperson denied the report. The intelligence surfaced days after Beijing helped broker the U.S.-Iran ceasefire and weeks before a planned summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and China President Xi Jinping. (Read More)


U.K. Shelves Chagos Islands Handover After U.S. Opposition

The British government suspended legislation to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius after President Donald Trump called the deal a "big mistake." The agreement, finalized in May 2025, would have ceded the archipelago while securing a 99-year lease for the joint U.S.-UK military base on Diego Garcia.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government stated it would not proceed without U.S. support. Mauritius scheduled talks with U.K. officials for April 22 to pursue decolonization of the territory. (Read More)

A suspect was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Lance Corporal Daniel Montano, 21, of 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune. Davy Spencer, 47, attacked Montano during a street brawl in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. (Read More)

A man was arrested after a home invasion in Fairfield, California, where he broke into a home and was confronted by a homeowner who fought him off with a shovel. Police said both the suspect and homeowner were injured before officers arrived and took the suspect into custody. (Read More)

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin announced a €505 million ($550 million) fuel tax relief package on April 12, cutting diesel and petrol taxes by 10 cents per liter after six days of protests and fuel depot blockades. (Read More)

New imagery shows damage to a U.S.-made AN/FPS-132 Block 5 early warning radar in Qatar following an Iranian strike last month. The $1.1 billion system can detect ballistic missiles at ranges up to 5,000 km (3,107 miles). (Read More)

The U.S. deployed the Red Wolf precision strike munition on the OA-1K Skyraider II light attack aircraft, giving the turboprop a 200-nautical-mile standoff capability. Naval Air Systems Command selected the high-subsonic weapon for the Marine Corps' Precision Attack Strike Munition program. (Read More)

The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Carl M. Levin has been seen with a new, unidentified launcher installed on its aft upper deck, according to recent imagery. The system, located between the ship’s torpedo tubes and Mk 41 Vertical Launch System cells, appears to feature multiple launch cells and may be part of efforts to field lower-cost anti-drone or experimental weapons.
